The TV wall is often the first thing you see in a living room, and too often it is the least considered. A well-planned TV unit hides cables and clutter, gives you real storage and makes the screen feel like part of the room rather than the centre of it.
Start with the wall, not the unit
Measure the full width of the wall and the position of sockets and windows. A long, low unit that runs most of the wall usually looks calmer than a short one floating in the middle.
Get the height right
The centre of the screen should sit roughly at eye level when you are seated. A low unit keeps the room open and leaves space above for art or the screen itself.
Plan the storage you really need
Closed doors hide routers, cables, remotes and games; a few open spaces are enough for books or objects you love.
Warm materials over glossy finishes
