Furnishing a North Coast chalet: materials that handle sun and salt

5 November 2026

A chalet on the North Coast asks more of its furniture than a city apartment. Strong sun, salty air, sand on every surface and long, busy summers. The right materials make the difference between pieces that age beautifully and pieces you replace every few years.

Indoors and outdoors are two different briefs

Inside, you want softness and calm: upholstered seats, warm wood and textured fabrics. Outside, on terraces and roofs, choose pieces that are comfortable but easy to live with in the open air.

Materials that suit the coast

  • Handwoven rope: light, airy and made for terraces. The Loom Chair pairs solid wood with handwoven rope.
  • Natural stone: heavy, stable and at home outdoors, like our stone tables such as the Lunea Table.
  • Solid wood: warm and durable. Keep it shaded where possible and wipe off salt and sand regularly.

Keep the palette calm

Light stone, warm wood and soft natural fabrics sit well against white walls and sea views, and they hide sand better than dark, glossy finishes.

Real coastal homes

  • Telal: the Loom Chair and a table on the roof, with the Nido and Kinoku chairs inside.
  • Ramla: the Eterna Sofa and Marmo Table under the pergola, steps from the pool.

Simple care for the season

Bring cushions inside or cover them when you close the chalet, brush off sand, and wipe wood with a dry or barely damp cloth.

Every piece is made to order in Cairo and can be sized for your terrace. Delivery to the North Coast is arranged with you.
