How to furnish a villa from scratch
5 November 2026

An empty villa is a blank page, and that is exactly what makes it hard. Buying room by room usually ends in a house full of nice pieces that don't speak to each other. Here is a calmer way to do it.
1. Start with how you live
Who uses each room, and when? A family living room, a formal reception, a guest suite and a terrace all need different things. Write this down before choosing a single piece.
2. Measure everything
Take wall lengths, window and door positions, sockets and ceiling heights for every room. Photos of each wall help too. This is what lets pieces be made to fit rather than squeezed in.
3. Choose one material story
Pick a short palette and repeat it through the house: for example warm wood, woven cane, soft bouclé and light stone. Repetition is what makes a villa feel designed rather than collected.
4. Anchor each room with one main piece
A sofa in the living room, a bed in the bedroom, a long table on the terrace. Build around it with chairs, side tables and poufs in the same language.
5. Make the awkward spaces to measure
Niches, TV walls, corners and long hallways rarely fit standard furniture. Custom pieces, like a TV unit or a wall-hung console, turn them into the best parts of the house.
6. Work with one team
If you have an interior designer or architect, bring us in early. On La Maison Forma, Eagle Architects shaped the design and we provided every piece for the whole home.
